From Resistance to Buy-In: Creating Support for Change
 

 
Goals/Objectives  

Schools and districts know that having a school improvement plan doesn’t guarantee results—often because even the best-laid plans may lack support of the full staff, be too overwhelming to implement, or not be implemented or monitored properly.

This 2-day workshop draws from McREL's comprehensive approach to school improvement—Success in Sight—helping school leadership teams understand the change process, why people resist change, and how to get everyone on board with change efforts.  

Description  Change can be difficult. To translate school improvement plans into results, school leaders must understand the power of shared leadership, the implications of change, and how to ensure that everyone takes responsibility for implementing improvement plans.  

In this workshop, you’ll explore:

  • Common barriers to school improvement.

  • How people perceive change and why they may resist it.

  • How to manage personal transitions of change.

  • The keys to creating cultures committed to continuous improvement.

  • How to ensure everyone plays a role in school improvement efforts.

  • How to align professional development content with the improvement strategies in the school improvement plan

  • A model to construct Innovation Configurations to guide and monitor implementation of improvement strategies
