This session is designed to increase participants' knowledge and understanding of
  • McREL's research on principal leadership, which correlates leadership responsibilities with student achievement
  • How to improve leadership practices
  • How well they fulfill research-based leadership responsibilities
  • McREL's framework for Balanced Leadership®
  • How to build capacity and use reflective practice
Description  This session examines all six major findings of McREL's meta- and factor-analyses on principal leadership, the concepts of shared leadership and balanced leadership, and the Balanced Leadership Framework®.

Recommended reading:

Prior to this session, participants should read School Leadership that Works: From Research to Results (ASCD, 2005) by Marzano, Waters & McNulty.
