McREL: Turning what works in teaching, leading, and learning into innovation and results

Using Technology with Teaching Writing in the Content Areas

Product Description

This participant manual, which supports McREL’s workshop of the same title, is available for purchase separately.

Current research continues to reveal the importance of emphasizing writing as a process. This recursive process encourages student writers to test, evaluate, revisit, and clarify ideas. The opportunity to focus on one step at a time — to reflect and discover voice and ideas along the way — helps writing become an opportunity for learning.

The manual is based on Teaching Writing in the Content Areas (Urquhart, V. A. & McIver, M. C., 2005) and will provide teachers with a variety of technology tools to add to their practice.
